Your ISP then Refuses to receive more mail, and Returns the JC posts to the TIAS server. The Jewelcollect/TIAS server cannot keep trying to deliver to an ISP that Refuses the mail. Thus, your email address is dumped off the list until you reSubscribe yourself.
You can do something about this yourself to prevent it from happening:
See to it that your mail box is not full, and you won't get dumped. Download your mail daily from your ISP. Many "bargain" ISPs will only provide 1 to 2 MB of server space to hold email until it is picked up (downloaded). That's roughly two days worth of JC posts . If you know that you must be away from your computer, you can Unsubscribe yourself. It's automatic and the information is on the Jewelcollect Home Page.
Unsubscription is automatic but not instant. JC mail stacked/queued a while before your Unsubscribe Request arrived will still be delivered to you; it will trickle down to no more mail in a few hours. Please don't write to ask administrator to stop it; there is nothing administrator can do, as mail-queuing and unsubscription is an automatic process of the email server program.
If you have a mishap with your computer but can tell someone on the Jewelcollect list to let me know, I can Unsubscribe you until your computer is alright again, and you wish to return to the list.
Reason 2 Your Internet Service Provider has instituted a filter process to stop SPAM, meaning indiscriminate advertising mail. This filter process can mistake Jewelcollect mail for SPAM, and start Denying Relay. When Relay is Denied, obviously you can't get any Jewelcollect mail, so it also gets Returned, and your email address is dumped from the list. When you realize that JC mail stops, and if you have email capability at all, pl. advise administrator, and the reason message for your unsubscription will be forwarded to you. You can forward that message to your ISP and argue that the SPAM filter should not stop JC mail. If your ISP does not listen to your plea, perhaps you need another ISP.
Reason 3 Your Internet Service Provider or a relaying provider (some small ISPs get all their mail and Internet transfer traffic from someone bigger that they lease from) is "down" with technical difficulties. This could be anything from breaks in major phone lines 10 states away from you because of bad weather, to something simple like a broken mailspool when mail is not released, or, a squirrel chewed on a T-1 line hanging from the garage that a small ISP uses. Do we really need to know why there is a "down"?
Again, the Jewelcollect email meant for you is Returned to the distributing server; it can't be delivered. And, your email address will be dumped from the list. You are probably getting irregular email delivery at such time, from a few messages to none, perhaps for a half day or longer. So you know that something is wrong; your ISP can confirm it if you call them, if they answer the phone, of course. Some ISPs shut off the phone lines during these "down" times as they are tired of explaining to hundreds of people that they "can't help the down" and that "it is being fixed, and when it's fixed, it's fixed, you will know it, as your mail will be back, so why call, and not just wait a while instead?"
and reSubscribe yourself, and see if you get the confirmation that your request has been received. If you don't, it's probably because you may be able to send mail but not receive it yet.
2 Please send request only once. You should get a confirmation of your request having been received by majordomo and forwarded to list-owner for approval. Do not expect an auto-approval. The approvals are handled by administrator when she gets to them; usually within 24 hours.
3 PLEASE: Do not write to administrator and ask why you got bumped. The reasons are above.
